Some dedicated players have already got the chance to play A Sports’ upcoming soccer video game, “FIFA 23,” thanks to early access. The final installment under the “FIFA” moniker is officially released this week, with “EA Sports FC” set to replace it in 2019. Players are anticipating several enhancements from the “FIFA 22” version, including the addition of a recognizable manager.
The approaching World Cup and a renewed emphasis on women’s football are just two key additions coming to the final “FIFA” installment before the big switch.

Sports Illustrated spoke with Kantcho Doskov, director of gameplay design for EA’s FIFA franchise, who explained how his team employed motion capture technology to simulate player movement in two 90-minute competitive matches. He also noted that the company has successfully captured the first-ever female motion in a motion-captured video game. FIFA 23 heavily emphasizes women’s soccer, and female players should have a more authentic experience than ever before.
Sam Kerr of Chelsea joins Kylian Mbappé of Paris Saint-Germain on the cover of the “Ultimate Edition” game as part of this initiative to advance the women’s game.
Because the World Cup in Qatar will be held in the winter rather than the summer, this year’s tournament also takes place during a historic year for the sport. Since the World Cup will now be held after the game’s release, EA has a window of opportunity to cash in. Boscov deems the game’s World Cup mode “the most exciting addition” for him. FIFA Ultimate Team mode will also have World Cup-themed limited edition cards.
FIFA 23: Release Date

Friday, September 30th, is the official drop date. The Ultimate Edition grants you early access four days ahead of schedule, and EA Play gives you a 10-hour free trial with your membership.
FIFA 23: New Features
HyperMotion2
The second chapter of an advanced motion capture series with the same goal—creating new realistic animations—is here. The gameplay was revamped with the addition of two new full-match motion capture shoots and five training drills with professional teams. EA Sports created authentic animations from captured games, such as a women’s 11-on-11 contest. Who are the cover athletes? There is twice as much real-world motion capture than in the previous version.
The cover athlete of “FIFA 23” is Kylian Mbappe, but Chelsea star Sam Kerr is also included in the definitive edition.
FIFA 23: Price and variants
The game’s base price is $69.99 for the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 and $59.99 for the previous generation’s Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game. It costs $59.99 for a PC.
Pricing for the complete package on Xbox One X|S, PS5, and PC is set at $99.99.
