Grand Theft Auto 6 is still a long way off, so it will likely be the subject of news articles and rumours for quite some time. Battlefield 2042 leaker Tom Henderson has recently revealed new information about the next-generation GTA 6.
GTA 6: Graphics and console
Since GTA 6 will have next-gen graphics and a massive game world, it will only be available on next-gen consoles and PC. Previous-gen systems will not get the game. According to rumours, GTA 6 will be more in line with recent games like GTA: Online.
So that it may “blend in with GTA Online and offer the devs as much leeway as possible to create as many DLCs as feasible,” Henderson’s sources have told him.
Next-gen console shortages, including the Microsoft Xbox Series X/S and the Sony PlayStation 5, also delayed the release until 2024–2025. After all, Rockstar wouldn’t risk releasing its biggest and most ambitious Grand Theft Auto (and maybe the most ambitious game of all time; step aside, Star Citizen and Chris Roberts) if it couldn’t sell it to 100 million or more gamers.
We’ll have to wait a few years until there are enough next-gen consoles to justify the largest Grand Theft Auto ever made.
To what extent will the open world of GTA 6 extend?
The largest GTA ever, in my opinion, was in 2015; rumours circulated that the developer was in the process of mapping the whole United States for GTA 6. The report said, “There would be complications if you tried to load the entire United States. For example, if there is nothing to see or do on the way between two cities, a road trip between them could be a real drag “.
The Setting of GTA 6 has not been revealed
In April 2020, rumours began to circulate that Grand Theft Auto 6 had been in pre-production since 2014 and that the game’s map would be “massive” when it was released. It appears to be based in Vice City, at the very least, and maybe in several major cities.
When can we expect to see GTA 6 released?
Take-Two has apparently set aside $89 million on marketing for FY2024, so expect some massive GTA 6 marketing (and I’m sure it will be much more than that) when the game finally releases in 2023 for the next-gen Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X platforms.
